GA Impact 2008G NL competed at Jefferson Cup on March 19 - 20


What is Jefferson Cup?

The Jefferson Cup, regarded as one of the top rated youth soccer tournaments in the country, features some of the nation’s top natural grass playing surfaces in the country with over 32 synthetic turf fields, including the River City Sportsplex, which is one of the nations largest turf complexes. All top brackets at the Jefferson Cup will be played on synthetic turf fields. Combining the nation’s top level competition with the nation’s top natural grass fields and synthetic fields makes the Jefferson Cup the #1 choice for March tournament competition.


Who did Georgia Impact compete against at Jefferson Cup?


Game 1

The 2008G NL had a competitive tournament, they went up against 3 top teams in the nation! The first game was played on March 19 at 8:00AM, against ranked 1st in Virginia, VYS Phoenix RL U14, which also placed 1st in ECNLR. Georgia Impact played a competitive back and forth game, but fell short 1-0.


Game 2

The second game took place a couple of hours later at 12:00 PM. Impact was facing #33 in the country and #3 in North Carolina; Charlotte SA White G U14. This team went on to win the age group, although when Impact played them, we gave them a run for their money. Impact brought the GA competition to them and did not let up easily. Impact ended up falling short again by 1 goal, with the final being 4-3 in favor of the Carolina team. Great stat leaving this game is that we were the only team to score more than 2 goals on this great Carolina side.


Final Game

Final day at the Jefferson Cup, March 20, Impact was determined to leave their mark at this tournament with some points. They went on to close their tournament against #6 in Massachusetts, Boston Bolts 2008 Girls West NPL. The Boston team wasn't letting up so easily, even though the Impact girls were determined to leave with a win. After a full game of tough and long weekend of competition the Impact girls left with their final victory of 1-0. All in all, these girls came out with experience and confidence to hit the Fall 2022 National League season running!
